The Balochistan Cabinet has approved a new initiative to provide electric bikes to the public, including students, working women, and government employees, with a 30% subsidy. Ordinary citizens will also be able to purchase bikes through easy installment plans, with the scheme being implemented via bank financing.
The decision was made during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, who emphasized that public funds should serve the broader population and not be restricted to a select group. The CM said the electric bike scheme and an accompanying health insurance plan for government employees would provide direct benefits to citizens and promote economic opportunities for the youth.

The cabinet also approved the expansion of the Enterprise Development Program to Gwadar, Kech, and Awaran, and agreed to ensure merit-based appointments in government departments. Officials highlighted that the province spends 6–7 billion PKR annually on healthcare for approximately 250,000 government employees, motivating the introduction of the health insurance scheme.
The CM stressed that the electric bike initiative is designed to create new jobs, promote environmentally friendly transport, and improve access to technology. The program is ready for immediate implementation and aims to provide economic stability and mobility options for the province’s youth.
