The Punjab Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has approved thousands of new government jobs in a major move aimed at strengthening public services, law enforcement and tourism management across the province.
The decision was taken during the 32nd meeting of the provincial cabinet, where multiple summaries related to recruitment and continuation of services were discussed and approved. Officials said the new hiring drive is expected to benefit thousands of job seekers in 2026.
According to official details, the cabinet approved 216 new constable posts in the Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department. In a significant boost to tourism-related security, 980 new positions were approved for the Murree Tourism Police to improve visitor management and safety in the hill station.
New contract-based posts were also approved for the Information Technology and Innovation Department, as well as various projects under the Tourism Development Corporation (TDC). These recruitments aim to enhance digital governance and modernise tourism services in Punjab.
The cabinet also decided to continue the services of ICT staff working in the Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department, ensuring uninterrupted digital and administrative support in the health sector. Additionally, restrictions on recruitment in the Tourism, Archaeology, Museums and related departments were relaxed.

Meanwhile, Punjab Police finalised a plan to recruit 1,000 personnel for the Crime Control Department (CCD), including Constables and Driver Constables. The recruitment summary has been sent to the Home Department and forwarded to the chief minister for final approval.
Once approved, the recruitment process will formally begin. Officials said these appointments will strengthen security, improve tourism management and enhance public service delivery across Punjab.
