LAHORE (Web Desk): Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah announced Rs10 million compensation for the families of Gul Plaza fire victims and vowed to rebuild the damaged building.

The chief minister said the Gul Plaza fire was a major incident and the building suffered such heavy damage that demolition may be required. Firefighters and rescue teams are still trying to access the site from three points, as complete extinguishing and cooling continue.

He announced that compensation payments to the families of those who lost their lives will start tomorrow. He said the priority now is to correct mistakes and ensure such tragedies do not happen again.

An inquiry into the fire will be conducted under the supervision of the Karachi commissioner. CM Murad clarified that the probe will not target individuals, but strict action will be taken if sabotage or negligence is proven.

He stressed the need to improve emergency access and fire safety standards. He said experts must be allowed to perform their duties without interference during emergencies. He also confirmed that shopkeepers who suffered losses will be compensated.
