LAHORE (Web Desk): Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has rejected claims about a mobile tax reduction, calling a viral notification fake and misleading, and warning people to stay cautious.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) said a false notification is circulating on social media about a supposed reduction in mobile taxes. The message also included fake instructions for mobile phone importers and consumers.

In a post on X, a PTA spokesperson clarified, “This information is entirely false and misleading.” The authority stressed that it has not issued any notification or directive related to mobile tax cuts.

PTA urged the public not to forward or trust unverified messages spreading on social platforms. Officials warned that sharing such content creates confusion and can mislead consumers and businesses.

The authority advised people to rely only on PTA’s official website and its verified social media accounts for accurate news, updates, and announcements.

PTA said it will continue to monitor misinformation and encouraged citizens to check facts before believing or sharing such claims.
