The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) said a false notification is circulating on social media about a supposed reduction in mobile taxes. The message also included fake instructions for mobile phone importers and consumers.
In a post on X, a PTA spokesperson clarified, “This information is entirely false and misleading.” The authority stressed that it has not issued any notification or directive related to mobile tax cuts.

The authority advised people to rely only on PTA’s official website and its verified social media accounts for accurate news, updates, and announcements.
PTA said it will continue to monitor misinformation and encouraged citizens to check facts before believing or sharing such claims.
