(Web Desk): The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has not suspended transit visas for Pakistanis, Pakistan’s Ambassador Shafqat Ali Khan said denying the viral reports.

Shafqat Ali Khan rejected reports circulating online that the Gulf country has suspended 96-hour and 48-hour transit visas for Pakistani nationals.

Responding to media queries, he clearly said, “It’s not true,” dismissing social media claims that transit visas had been temporarily stopped.

These short-term transit visas are sponsored by UAE-based airlines Emirates and Etihad Airways. According to official information, travellers who are not eligible for visa-on-arrival or visa-free entry must obtain a pre-arranged transit visa if they plan to leave the airport during their stopover.

Despite the clarification, several social media users shared screenshots claiming: “As per the latest information from USE immigration transit visas (96 Hours and 48 Hours Visa) for PAKISTAN nationals has been temporarily suspended. Hence, kindly do not apply for this 96 Hours and 48 Hours visa category.” Others referred to an alleged “notice” without official confirmation.

In the past year, Pakistanis have faced visa-related challenges in the UAE. Earlier, concerns were raised about visit visa misuse. However, officials maintained that there were no formal restrictions on work visas.

UAE authorities have recently discussed visa facilitation reforms, including online processing and e-visas without passport stamping. Both countries are also working on a “pre-immigration clearance” agreement to complete immigration formalities in Pakistan before departure.

The envoy’s statement aims to calm confusion. Social media rumours often create panic among travellers. While visa concerns existed before, there is no official suspension of UAE transit visas. Travellers are advised to check only official sources before making plans.
