(Web Desk): NFC meeting postponed by federal government due to clashes with provinces over the date and distribution of resources .

The federal government has postponed the 11th National Finance Commission (NFC) meeting. It was scheduled for November 18.

Finance Ministry sources confirmed the delay. They said the session aimed to review the resource-sharing system between the federation and provinces.

The meeting stalled after provinces and the centre disagreed on the date and agenda. Both sides also differed on how to revise the resource distribution agenda.

The ministry had sent the proposed date to all provinces for feedback. It was the second consultation round. Officials now confirm no NFC meeting will take place on November 18. They said a new date will come after more coordination with provinces.

The ministry earlier proposed August 29 and November 10. Both dates were dropped. Sindh first sought postponement due to floods. Later, scheduling issues caused another delay.

The 11th NFC includes all four provincial finance ministers and one economic expert from each province. It forms a broad consultative body under the Constitution.

The federal government issued the NFC notification and TORs on August 22, 2025. The new NFC will update the formula for vertical and horizontal resource distribution. It will consider economic shifts, development needs, and revenue capacities.

The Finance Ministry said it will share a revised schedule soon. It aims to resume talks and build a fair, updated fiscal framework for the federation and provinces.
