Sources added that during screening, staff members’ religious and political leanings are also being examined. Anyone found to have links with banned groups or religious organizations will be immediately removed from duties at CM Office and Jati Umra.
It is important to note that following recent protests and the Muridka incident, the Punjab government recommended a ban on the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP). Acting on Punjab’s recommendation, the federal government declared TLP a banned organization, with the Interior Ministry issuing a formal notification.
According to reliable sources, the screening was ordered to check the background, political leanings, and religious affiliations of all personnel assigned to the CM’s security.
Any officer found to have ties with a religious group or suspicious organization would be immediately removed from duties related to the CM Office or Jati Umra, Maryam Nawaz’s residence.
This review led to replacements and reassignments, including the appointment of SP Hamza Amanullah as Maryam Nawaz’s new Chief Security Officer, replacing the previous officer.
The move came after the Punjab government banned a religious party following violent protests and incidents in Muridke. To ensure absolute loyalty and neutrality within the CM’s protection team, the Punjab police and intelligence agencies initiated this internal audit.
