Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced that all Basant celebrations scheduled in Lahore have been cancelled. Maryam Nawaz said the decision was taken so the nation could stand united in this difficult time. She urged people to remain strong and united against terrorists and their supporters. She ended her message with the slogan “Pakistan Zindabad”.
Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari also confirmed the cancellation in her statement. She said the Chief Minister has officially stopped all Basant-related activities, including the Liberty Square event. She added that the Punjab government stands with the families of the victims and shares their grief and pain.

Uzma Bukhari said enemies of Pakistan do not want the country’s positive image to appear in front of the world.
