Former prime minister Imran Khan is at the centre of fresh health concerns after his sister Aleema Khan claimed he has lost his eyesight while in custody at Adiala Jail.
Speaking to the media after meeting Bushra Bibi, Aleema said Khan sent a message through family members stating that his vision had deteriorated and he urgently needed examination by his personal doctors. She insisted that jail authorities must shift him to Al-Shifa International Hospital, where his medical history is already available.
According to Aleema, the family was initially told that National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq would arrange two doctors to visit the jail. Later, they were informed of a conference call involving Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who allegedly assured them that Khan would be transferred to hospital.
However, Aleema rejected a medical report prepared by a government doctor, calling it incomplete and inaccurate. She demanded a comprehensive medical examination in the presence of Khan’s personal physicians and questioned why he was being kept in solitary confinement.

“Until he is shifted to hospital and examined by his own doctors, we will not trust any assurances,” she said.
Separately, Dr Uzma criticised the medical report for not clearly stating the cause of the illness, arguing that proper treatment cannot begin without diagnosis. Uzma Niazi also urged the public to speak up, saying the matter should not be taken lightly.
