(Web Desk): Cheap electric bike scheme offers Rs80,000 subsidy per bike under PM electric bike program this year.

The government has shared full details of subsidy on electric motorbikes and rickshaws under the Prime Minister’s electric vehicle scheme. The plan aims to promote affordable and environment friendly transport across the country.

While speaking to a private TV channel, the Chief Executive Officer of the Engineering Development Board, Hammad Mansoor, explained that Rs100 billion funds have been allocated for the next five years. For the current fiscal year, Rs9 billion have been set aside.

He said that during this year, 116,000 motorbikes will be provided with a subsidy of Rs80,000 per bike. Under the electric rickshaw scheme, each rickshaw will receive a subsidy of Rs400,000.

According to the CEO, the Prime Minister’s EV bikes are Rs50,000 to Rs60,000 cheaper than other brands due to the subsidy. The target is to deliver 76,000 bikes by June.

He added that only those people can benefit who are above 18 years of age and have a valid driving license.

Officials said the entire scheme is 100 percent transparent and connected to an automated system. They also claimed that electric bikes will reduce environmental pollution and help save around Rs8,000 per month in petrol expenses.

Experts believe this scheme can reduce fuel costs and promote clean energy transport. However, its success will depend on smooth delivery and fair distribution. If managed properly, it can bring real relief to middle income families.

This plan looks attractive for young riders. Saving Rs8,000 every month is a big relief. Clean transport is also good for cities. But timely delivery will decide public trust.
