LAHORE (Web Desk): PTI forms a 23-member political committee, excluding Ali Amin Gandapur, triggering debate over the party’s new power structure and future direction.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has reconstituted its political committee, announcing a new 23-member body through a formal notification. The move has drawn attention as former KPK chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur is not part of the new setup.

According to the party, PTI founder Imran Khan directed Secretary General Salman Akram Raja to form the committee. Acting on these instructions, Raja issued the notification, which also carries the signature of senior leader Firdous Shamim Naqvi.

The notification states that the committee includes 23 senior leaders. PTI Chairman Gohar Ali Khan and Secretary General Salman Akram Raja are among its key members, giving the body strong organizational weight.

Other prominent names include Firdous Shamim Naqvi, Sheikh Waqas Akram, KPK Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, and Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, the nominated Leader of the Opposition in the Senate. Mahmood Khan Achakzai, nominated opposition leader in the National Assembly, and former opposition leader Omar Ayub have also been included.

The committee further features Shibli Faraz, Moin Qureshi, Malik Ahmed Khan Bachhar, Overseas Chapter Secretary Sajjad Burki, and Punjab’s chief organizers Alia Hamza, Junaid Akbar, Haleem Adil, and Dawood Kakar.

Representation from Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan has been ensured through Khalid Khurshid and Sardar Qayyum Niazi. Former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser, NA chief whip Amir Dogar, Senate coordinator Fauzia Arshad, Women’s Wing President Kanwal Shauzab, and Minority Wing President Lal Chand Malhi are also part of the committee.

“The Political Committee will also lay down the policies to be followed by the parliamentary parties of the party in the National Assembly, the Senate, and the Provincial Assemblies, including the assemblies of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu Kashmir,” the notification reads.

The document clarifies that the committee will act as PTI’s top decision-making forum, responsible for shaping policies, guiding parliamentary wings, and setting political strategy. It also notes that members can be added or removed as required, leaving room for future changes.
