Dr Yasmin Rashid death rumours denied by PTI
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has strongly denied reports circulating on social media claiming that senior party leader Dr Yasmin Rashid has died. The party clarified that she is alive and currently imprisoned in Kot Lakhpat Jail.
The clarification came after several social media posts claimed that Dr Yasmin Rashid’s health had suddenly deteriorated and that she had passed away while receiving treatment at a hospital after being shifted from jail.
In a statement shared on the social media platform X, PTI Central Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram said Dr Yasmin Rashid is alive and remains in Kot Lakhpat Jail.

He said she continues to remain in custody after being convicted in cases related to the May 9 incidents. He also claimed that she is facing what the party describes as illegal detention and harsh treatment because she supports PTI founder Imran Khan.
Sheikh Waqas Akram rejected all reports about Dr Yasmin Rashid’s death, calling them completely false and without any basis.
He urged PTI workers, supporters and the public not to believe or share unverified information, stressing that the viral reports are baseless and misleading. The rumors spread rapidly across social media, creating confusion among party workers and the public before PTI issued its official clarification.
