PESHAWAR (Web Desk): The Peshawar High Court has ordered ban on misuse of Government vehicles or resources for political rallies, protests and long marches.

This order was issued by a two-judge bench while hearing a petition filed by Jawad Ali, who alleged that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had allowed the use of government vehicles and resources to support political activities like rallies, protests and long marches.

The petition claimed that this practice burdened taxpayers and effectively turned public assets into tools for political promotion.

Justice Sahibzada Asadullah, who issued the written order, noted that all public resources must remain within constitutional limits.

He further said that no government or official vehicle should be used for any political purposes, and any violation would be considered misconduct.

Any violation against this order would be considered as misconduct, he added.

The provincial government lawyer rejected the claims, arguing that the provided lists of vehicles were incorrect and that no official support was given for political events.

He stated that any participation by employees in rallies was strictly personal and not done using government vehicles.

The court stressed that transparency and lawful conduct are essential for the proper functioning of democratic institutions.

Following the hearing, officials across the province were instructed to ensure that no government vehicle, employee, or resource is used for political gatherings.

The petition was disposed of with clear directions for strict adherence to these rules to prevent future misuse of official vehicles.

This decision sets a strong precedent, reinforcing the principle that public resources must be used solely for public service and not for advancing political interests.
