The senior politician confirmed his decision during his appearance on Geo News program “Capital Talk” with Hamid Mir on Thursday. He revealed that he submitted his resignation on September 19 while he was aboard the Global Samud Flotilla, a humanitarian mission for Gaza.
Mushtaq Ahmad Khan mentioned that the party has not yet responded to his resignation. Explaining the reason behind his decision, he said that every organization has its limitations and boundaries, and sometimes an individual needs freedom to act independently.
“I want to openly advocate for human rights, democracy, free media, Dr Aafia Siddiqui, Palestine, and the constitutional rights of federating units,” he stated.
He also expressed his wish to meet Ali Wazir, Mahrang Baloch, and Manzoor Pashteen, and called for a fair trial for PTI founder Imran Khan, emphasizing justice for all political figures regardless of their affiliations.
Speaking about his emotional departure, the former senator said, “The night I resigned, I cried the same way I did when my mother passed away.” His statement reflected deep attachment to his political journey and the difficult choice he made to move forward independently.
