National Assembly passes resolution condemning killing of Ismail Haniyeh
ISLAMABAD: (Suno News) The National Assembly on Friday unanimously passed a resolution condemning the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.

A session of the National Assembly was held under the chairmanship of Speaker Ayaz Sadiq in which Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar presented a resolution on the issue of Ismail Haniyeh’s martyrdom.

The resolution condemned the killing of more than 40,000 Palestinians in Israeli attacks, adding: "Pakistan opposes all types of terrorism."

According to the resolution, the House expressed its support for the Palestinians, expressed condolences on the martyrdom of Ismail Haniyeh, and called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

At the outset of the assembly session, Jamshed Dasti raised the slogans of "Palestine Zindabad" and "Israel Murdabad". Later, prayers were offered for the rest of the Hamas leader in eternal peace.

On the occasion, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar said: “Today has been set aside to discuss the martyrdom of Ismail Haniyeh, the government coalition and the opposition should pass a unanimous resolution so that a clear message is sent to the world.”

Later, while addressing the House, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the entire world is mourning the martyrdom of Ismail Haniyeh. “I am grateful to all the members for passing the unanimous resolution. I am grateful to the members sitting on the opposition benches and the coalition parties.”

He said the martyrdom of Ismail Haniyeh is a big blow to the peace efforts in Gaza, adding Pakistan expresses solidarity with Ismail Haniyeh’s family and the Palestinians.

He said turning a blind eye to the Palestine issue will not work, adding international laws are being flouted openly in Palestine. He pointed out that the blood of thousands of martyrs is calling for justice.

Shehbaz Sharif said it is a question of human rights that more than 40,000 Palestinians have been martyred.

He said human settlements have been turned into graveyards, adding: “There are sounds of screams being heard in the streets where children used to play.”
