
Since motorcycles make up 85% of vehicles used for transport in Punjab, the government wants to make sure they re not adding to the growing pollution crisis.
To make this happen, the Punjab Motor Vehicles Amendment Act 2025 has been presented in the provincial assembly. The proposed changes will update the old 1965 Motor Vehicles Ordinance and include motorcycles in the same rules that currently apply to cars.

This move is part of the government’s wider plan to improve air quality and protect the environment.
Right now, the bill has been sent to a special committee, which will review it and give a report in two months. Once approved, this new rule could change how millions of people ride in Punjab.
