KP Minister Shakeel Khan resigns over bad governance, widespread corruption in province
PESHAWAR: (Suno News) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Minister for Communication and Works (C&W) Shakeel Khan tendered his resignation Friday, August 16, citing poor governance and widespread corruption in the province.

The minister sent his resignation to KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur via WhatsApp, expressing deep disappointment over bad governance in the province.

In his message, he said that the PTI government in the province had deviated from the purpose for which the people voted for them.

He said that poor governance and rampant corruption had damaged the public’s perception of PTI at every level, reiterating his commitment to raise his voice against such issues in line with the party’s manifesto.

He also said that he was willing to be held accountable at all forums, adding that he planned to tell the reasons for his resignation in detail in the assembly.

He also accused KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur of interference in his department which, he claimed, hindered his work.

CM Gandapur’s response

In response to Shakeel Khan’s resignation, CM Gandapur stated that a committee established by PTI founder Imran Khan had already recommended Shakil Khan’s removal from the provincial cabinet.

He said that he had signed the summary for Shakeel Khan’s de-notification and sent it to the governor before receiving Shakeel Khan’s resignation. He also said that he was yet to receive a formal written resignation from Shakeel Khan.
