On Monday, the former prime minister confessed to giving a call for a protest outside the army headquarters on May 9.
Talking to journalists during a hearing of a case inside Adiala Jail, the former prime minister said, “I had given a call for holding a peaceful protest outside the GHQ before my arrest.” He added that police and Rangers attacked his house in Zaman Park area of Lahore on March 14.
Later on March 18, he added, the law enforcers again forcibly barged into his house. The same day, he maintained, the Judicial Complex witnessed shelling inside and outside its compound.

Commenting on the cricketer-turned-politician’s confession, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said that the masterminds of the May 9 incidents had confessed to their crimes.
Without naming the former prime minister’s PTI, Maryam said that it was not a political party rather a group of people who aimed to undermine the state through chaos.
She claimed that the residence of PTI founder Imran Khan Zaman Park had been a training centre for unscrupulous elements. In the house, she added, they were taught how to make petrol bombs and launch attacks on state establishments.

What kind of peaceful protest led to attacks on over 200 military installations, she questioned. The participants set Air Force planes and corps commanders houses ablaze and showed disrespect to martyrs memorials, she added.
The first female chief minister of Punjab claimed that a conspiracy was hatched to push Pakistan towards default. Sending letters to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the cipher episode were also part of the conspiracy.
