
Ballot papers were distributed to around 46,000 members for the election while the turnout remained 82 percent. Also over 6,000 women used their right to vote in the election.
It should be noted that Hafiz Naeemur Rahman previously performed his duties as the Ameer of Karachi.
Addressing a press conference at Mansurah, Jamaat-e-Islami Deputy Ameer Rashid Naseem announced the victory, saying that Hafiz Naeemur Rahman had become Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer.
He said that elections were held every five years since 1941. This is the 19th consecutive election of the religiopolitical. “It is clear from the election of Jamaat-e-Islami that our party does not belong to any specific region. Its Shurah had suggested three names for the Ameer including Sirajul Haque, Liaquat Baloch and Hafiz Naeemur Rehman.
He said that the work of distributing ballot papers started on February 19, 2024. Ballots were distributed to 45,821 members while 82pc of them casted their votes. Earlier, JI spokesperson Qaiser Sharif said, “We belong to a fully democratic party.”
