National Assembly calls for grand 1500th Eid Miladun Nabi observance

The Lower House of the Parliament unanimously passed a resolution urging federal and provincial governments to take all necessary steps for celebrating the 1500th Eid Miladun Nabi (SAWW) in a grand and dignified manner.

Moved by Pir Syed Fazal Ali Shah Jillani, the resolution called for holding Milad programmes at the highest level and illuminating both public and private buildings. It emphasized the importance of promoting the teachings of the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wa Ala Alayhee Wassallam, Khatim-un-Nabiyeen, across the country.

In a separate move marking National Minorities Day, the House passed another resolution to include Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s historic 11 August 1947 address to the first Constituent Assembly into the national curriculum.

In that speech, Pakistan’s founder declared, “you are free to go to your temples, mosques, or any other places of worship in this country. You may belong to any religion, caste, or creed that has nothing to do with the business of the State.” The resolution was moved by Naveed Aamir.

The resolutions reflect a dual emphasis on religious reverence and national unity. While the 1500th Eid Milad-un-Nabi celebrations are set to be among the most elaborate in Pakistan’s history, the decision to integrate Quaid-e-Azam’s address into the curriculum underscores the state’s commitment to religious freedom and interfaith harmony. Together, they signal a message of spiritual devotion and inclusive nationalism.
