According to officials, this plan is a historic breakthrough in the energy sector. Replacing old fans with modern inverter fans is expected to save around 5,000 megawatts of electricity annually. But the government has also imposed strict eligibility conditions.
Only those consumers whose electricity connection is registered under the property owner’s name will qualify. Additionally, applicants who have already availed more than two installment-based schemes in the last two years will not be eligible.
Consumers will have to pay in easy installments through their electricity bills, spread over 6 to 18 months. Banks will finance up to Rs300,000 for the purchase, after which fans will be supplied as per the agreement.
These modern inverter fans will be provided at affordable installments, and the payment will be adjusted directly into electricity bills. Experts believe this project will not only give relief to households but also help reduce the national energy crisis.

This project signals a strong government commitment toward tackling Pakistan’s chronic power shortages. By providing 80 million inverter fans, authorities are not only targeting energy conservation but also offering financial relief through installment-based payments. However, the strict eligibility criteria could exclude many tenants and low-income families. If implemented smoothly, the plan can significantly reduce electricity consumption and support households, but transparency in distribution and fair access will decide its ultimate success.
