Former PML-N leaders Shahid Khaqan, Miftah Ismail launch new party

ISLAMABAD: (Suno News) Former leaders of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) including ex-premier Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and ex-finance minister Miftah Ismail launched a new political party named Awam Pakistan Party (APP) on Saturday (July 6).

Miftah Ismail, who will be the general secretary of APP, delivered a passionate speech while addressing the party’s launching ceremony.

Miftah highlighted the APP agenda, emphasised the need for systemic change in Pakistan, and termed the current system a predator-prey system designed for the elite.

He highlighted the terrible situation of 40 percent of children in the country who have no prospects, questioning the utility of a government that fails to bring any improvement.

He also questioned the disproportionate tax burden on salaried individuals and tax exemptions to vast landowners.

He lamented Pakistan is lagging behind all neighbouring countries, adding the youth are so desperate to leave the country that they risk their lives to go abroad.

He vowed not to let the current system continue and called for a fairer and more equitable society.
