The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a smog alert for several cities across eastern Punjab as a persistent dry spell and increasing air pollution continue to worsen air quality in the region.
According to the PMD, residents in affected areas have been advised to take precautionary measures to minimize exposure to smog-related health risks. The Met Office noted that weather conditions across most parts of the country are expected to remain dry on Wednesday, with colder mornings and nights, especially in the northern and hilly regions.
In Punjab, dry weather will dominate, but smog is likely to persist over Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Okara, Khanewal, Multan, Bahawalpur, and Rahim Yar Khan. The department warned that stagnant atmospheric conditions and vehicular emissions could further deteriorate visibility and air quality in these cities.
