The November Supermoon 2025, also known as the Beaver Moon, will light up skies worldwide tonight, including across Pakistan. The Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) announced that the moon will appear at its biggest and brightest this year.
According to Suparco, the moon’s orbit varies between two points — perigee, its closest approach to Earth, and apogee, its farthest. When a full moon occurs at or near perigee, it becomes a supermoon.
At its nearest distance tonight, the moon will be about 356,980 kilometres from Earth. It will appear 7.9 per cent larger and 16 per cent brighter than an average full moon. The peak illumination will occur at 6:19 pm, offering skywatchers a spectacular view.
This Beaver Supermoon is the second in a trio of consecutive supermoons expected in October, November, and December 2025. Suparco said it will be the closest, biggest, and brightest full moon of the year.

NASA explains that the name “Beaver Moon” comes from the Maine Farmer’s Almanack, which published Native American names for full moons in the 1930s. Native American tribes in the northern and eastern United States called it the Beaver Moon, marking the time when beavers prepare for winter.
Earlier, Suparco reported a similar event on October 7, visible at 8:47 pm, while September’s blood moon was missed due to cloud cover.
