LAHORE: (Web Desk) Railways Minister Muhammad Hanif Abbasi announced that the Punjab government has decided to upgrade Lahore and Rawalpindi railway stations in line with international standards.

As part of the modernization plan, Abbasi said both stations will receive several new amenities, including – escalators, renovated washrooms and improved waiting areas. The stations will have other essential passenger comforts.

These upgrades aim to transform the stations into modern, accessible, and efficient transit hubs, providing a more comfortable experience for passengers.

Abbasi reiterated the government’s commitment to overhauling Pakistan’s railway system, noting that the project will be carried out in collaboration with Pakistan Railways (PR) and is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

With rising travel demands, these improvements are expected to enhance station capacity, streamline operations, and elevate service quality, bringing the railway infrastructure in Punjab closer to global benchmarks.
