The ceremony s slogan was "Welcome to Maryam Nawaz Sharif Green Punjab," where the Pakistan’s first fully electric bus service was launched. The bus service will run from the Railway Station to Green Town.

CM Maryam Nawaz became the first passenger of the electric bus service, boarding the bus at the Punjab University stop.

Inspecting a dedicated bus stop, Maryam instructed the administration to install fans, water coolers, and a mini canteen for commuters.

Speaking at the ceremony, she announced that fare of the electric bus would be Rs20, emphasizing her efforts to reduce fares and ease the financial burden on public.

During the event, Punjab Minister for Transport Bilal Akbar revealed plans to start services in Faisalabad and Gujranwala, introducing 500 more electric buses.
