A Technical Supplementary Grant (TSG) of Rs. 2 billion in favor of the National Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (NEECA) has been approved by the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) for the launch of the Prime Minister’s Fan Replacement Program.
The program is part of a broader national energy-saving push, targeting the replacement of 88 million conventional fans to reduce power consumption by 6,000–7,000 MW, easing grid pressure during peak months.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be a registered electricity user and must have a valid CNIC to be eligible to apply. Even though preference might be given to low-income families with high consumption and outdated fans, there are no age or income restrictions. It is important to note that a clean billing record is necessary, meaning no defaults are allowed.
How to Apply
Though the official portal has not yet launched, the process is expected to be simple: you can register through your electricity provider or a designated online platform. Provide your CNIC and electricity reference number. Your eligibility will be automatically verified by the system. Once the application is approved, a DC fan priced around Rs. 1,500 can be chosen by the applicant. This will be payable via monthly installments and will be added to your power bill.
From designated distribution points or utility centers, the fan can be collected once approved. Affordable financing through Shariah-compliant Islamic on-bill financing is being encouraged by the government, as it is partnering with banks and offering a 10% first-loss guarantee. Repayment terms range from 6 to 18 months, depending on eligibility.
