
According to motorway officials Peshawar–Islamabad Motorway will be closed as heavy rains have caused extreme slipperiness near Kati Pahari.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) issued a report on the human and material losses caused by recent rains and flash floods across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the report, 323 people have so far lost their lives in rain- and flood-related incidents, while 156 others sustained injuries. Among the deceased were 273 men, 29 women, and 21 children. Of the injured, 123 were men, 23 women, and 10 children.
The PDMA further stated that a total of 336 houses were damaged, including 230 partially and 106 completely destroyed. Buner district was reported as the worst-hit area, with 209 deaths recorded so far. Other affected districts include Swat, Bajaur, Torghar, Mansehra, Shangla, and Battagram.

The authority has warned of further heavy rainfall between August 17 and 19, with intermittent downpours expected to continue until August 21.
Following the directives of the Chief Minister, PDMA has completed the delivery of relief goods to the affected districts through 89 trucks. The supplies include tents, mattresses, blankets, kitchen sets, tarpaulins, mats, mosquito nets, generators, and other daily essentials.
Additionally, Rs. 800 million in relief funds have been released to district administrations, while Buner, the most severely affected district, has received an additional Rs. 500 million in financial assistance.
