PM Shehbaz targets reducing tax burden on the common man

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that improving the tax system to increase the country's revenue and reduce the tax burden on the common man are priorities.

A review meeting on the ongoing reforms of the FBR was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in which federal ministers Attaullah Tarar, Ahad Khan Cheema, Azam Nazir Tarar and the Chairman FBR participated.

In the meeting, the Prime Minister praised the efforts of FBR officials and officers and personnel involved in the reforms and directed them to submit a report next week, setting actionable targets and a timeframe for the proposals.

Speaking at the meeting, the Prime Minister said that the digitization of the FBR helped in achieving the goals, steps should be taken to create a sustainable system on a permanent basis, and more enforcement-related measures should be taken to curb the informal economy.

Shehbaz Sharif said that a time frame should be set for achieving the goals for the restructuring of the FBR Digital Wing, and that the convenience of businessmen, the business community, and taxpayers should be kept in mind in implementing the reforms.

The Prime Minister further said that improving the tax system to increase national revenue and reduce the tax burden on the common man are priorities.
