PIA announces special flight operations for Arbaeen

KARACHI (Irshad Sanjarani): The national airline PIA has announced to run special flight operations for Arbaeen from August 8.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has banned pilgrims from traveling to Iran and Iraq by road for Arbaeen. This ban was imposed due to security concerns.

Pakistan International Airlines has announced a special flight operation for Arbaeen. Special flights from Pakistan to Najaf will be operated from August 8 to August 11, and flights from Najaf to Pakistan will be operated from August 18 to August 23.

According to sources, PIA has set a round-trip fare of $675 (approximately Rs194,000) per passenger for the special Arbaeen flight operation. Pilgrims traveling to Iraq have requested PIA to reduce fares and operate additional flights.

Millions of people travel from Pakistan to the Iraqi city of Najaf via Iran every year by road. Pilgrims say that due to the ban on traveling to Najaf by road, the government has directed the PIA to operate additional flights for Arbaeen.
