ISLAMABAD (Web Desk): Pakistan’s JF-17 Thunder Block III fighter jets soared into British skies at the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) 2025—marking a major milestone for the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) on the global stage.

This PAF fighter jet reflects Pakistan’s commitment to showcasing its aerospace prowess as it is a PAF contingent that features advanced Block III aircraft alongside a C-130 Hercules transport plane touched down at RAF Fairford.

A backbone of PAF is the jointly developed JF-17 Thunder by Pakistan and China, a 4.5-generation multirole warplane. Now, its Block III variant—equipped with AESA radar, long-range air-to-air missiles, and enhanced defensive systems—is making waves on the world stage. The aircraft flew to the UK with in-flight refuelling from an IL-78 tanker, underscoring PAF’s extended operational reach.

PAF officers say there’s “a palpable sense of enthusiasm across the United Kingdom,” especially after recent regional tensions with India, which brought the JF-17 into the spotlight. The aircraft’s combat history, including sorties alongside Chinese J-10Cs, has raised global interest, making its RIAT debut a major draw.

PAF has confirmed that a pair of Block III fighters will feature in both static exhibitions and flying routines. They will be commented by a C-130 Hercules sporting a customized “Eyes in the Skies” livery. This will add to the visual appeal to PAF’s presentation.

This is a significant moment in Pakistan’s defense diplomacy and aviation exports. From July 18–20, RIAT 2025 will unfold and the JF-17 Block III’s performance is expected to strengthen Pakistan’s case as a growing competitor in global airspace.
