NADRA update: Modify ID card from PAKID
(Web Desk): NADRA PAKID app now allows citizens to modify CNIC’s fingerprint verification to photo uploads directly through your smartphone.

Great news for Pakistani citizens looking to update or correct details on their Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) — NADRA has made the process simple, digital, and entirely mobile. With the PAK-ID app, you no longer need to stand in long lines or visit a NADRA office.

To begin, download the PAK-ID app on your mobile device and register your account. Once logged in, tap on the "Apply for ID" option. You can apply for yourself or for close family members such as your parents, spouse, children, or siblings — but remember, the person for whom you re applying must be present during the application for biometric verification.

Once you’ve selected “Update Card”, a form will appear on your screen. Tap on “Verify Fingerprints”, and follow the on-screen guide to submit fingerprints — either your own or your family member’s, depending on who the application is for. After that, select your preferred delivery address (current or permanent) where you’d like the new card delivered.

You can choose from three processing options:

  • Executive: Card delivered in 7 days after payment
  • Urgent: Delivered in 12 days
  • Normal: Delivered in 30 days

Now, it s time to start the modification process. On the new screen, click the blue “+” button to select the fields you want to update, such as name, marital status, or address. After choosing the relevant fields, proceed to capture a live photo (no glasses, white background, and ensure your face fits within the on-screen circle). Then, upload or draw your signature, and continue.

You’ll be asked to review and complete personal and family details. For marital status updates, scroll down to the "Spouse Details" section and provide the necessary information. Similarly, you can add your children or other relatives using their CNIC or POC numbers.

Next, provide your address information, educational qualifications, and profession details. You will also be prompted for disability or organ donor information — if not applicable, you can leave those fields blank.

One of the final steps is attestation. You must select a family member shown on-screen to verify the application using their fingerprint. Then, upload supporting documents by taking clear pictures through your mobile camera. After that, you’ll reach the Review Information screen, where you should double-check all entered data.

Tick the acknowledgments, click Submit, and your application will be sent to NADRA for processing. If approved, a Pay Now option will appear next to your tracking ID. You can pay the fee using JazzCash, Easypaisa, debit/credit card, or e-Sahulat.

Once paid, your new or updated CNIC — complete with all the modifications — will be delivered to your chosen address within the selected time frame.

This digital transformation by NADRA is a huge leap toward efficient citizen services. Whether you re correcting a typo, changing marital status, updating your address, or applying for a family member, the PAK-ID app ensures convenience, transparency, and security — all without stepping out of your home.
