KARACHI (Web Desk): Karachi weather today received a fresh monsoon spell, which struck Sindh late Saturday evening, delivering moderate to heavy rain across the province.

Karachi saw showers in Shah Faisal Colony, Gulistan-e-Johar, Korangi, Orangi, several schemes, and near the airport. The rainfall led to power outages and submerged low-lying areas, disrupting daily life.

Several other districts—including Hyderabad, Sukkur, Jacobabad, Thatta, Badin, Larkana, Jamshoro, Nawabshah, and Mirpurkhas—experienced torrential downpours, offering relief from recent dry spells.

The NDMA’s National Emergencies Operation Center has issued alert warnings—valid from July 19 to 25—highlighting risks of flash floods, urban inundation, and surges from glacial meltwater.

These alerts span across Sindh, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and Islamabad.

Emergency crews—including NDMA, Rescue 1122, and local authorities—have been mobilized nationwide and instructed to clear drainage systems and prepare for emergency evacuations. Citizens have been urged to stay indoors, avoid travel in high-risk zones, and monitor official alerts.

The province has activated its emergency response in anticipation:

Local government staff leave has been canceled, and 24-hour rain emergency centers have been set up under the supervision of senior officials.

The latest monsoon cycle has intensified across Sindh, bringing both welcome relief and serious challenges. Rainfall-induced power failures, flooded neighborhoods, and risks of more extreme weather remain. Authorities at the provincial and federal levels continue to urge the public to stay alert, adhere to safety advisories, and cooperate with preparedness measures until July 25.
