
According to a statement issued by the central office of Jamaat-e-Islami, Professor Khurshid Ahmad, a former Senator of the party, was 93 years old and passed away in the city of Leicester, United Kingdom.
Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, former Ameer Siraj ul Haq, Secretary General Ameer ul Azeem, Deputy Ameers, and Hafiz Idrees, along with other central leaders of the party, expressed deep sorrow and grief over the death of Professor Khurshid Ahmad.
The leadership of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan extended condolences to the family of the late Professor Khurshid Ahmad.
In their statement, Jamaat-e-Islami leaders said that Professor Khurshid Ahmad was a senior, highly regarded political leader of Jamaat-e-Islami, a global economist, author of numerous books, and had headed several international institutions. His national and community services will always be remembered.
It is worth noting that the late Professor Khurshid Ahmad was among the longtime companions of Jamaat-e-Islami founder Syed Abul A la Maududi. For his services to Islam, Professor Khurshid Ahmad was awarded the King Faisal Award in 1990.
Additionally, he received the Nishan-e-Imtiaz from the Government of Pakistan in 2011. He was also the recipient of the first Islamic Development Bank Award.
