
In a startling case of double life, Farzana Kausar, alias Mehreen, a housemaid once honoured with a sewing award by former PM Imran Khan during her three-year imprisonment, has been arrested in theft estimating Rs6.5 million.
As per Karachi’s Defense Police homeowners were allegedly drugged by Mehreen She drugged them by serving sedative-laced green tea, knocking them unconscious before ransacking valuables. She stole jewelry from bungalows in affluent Defence and Clifton areas.
After khan lodged a complaint at Defense Police Station in December 2024, citing the loss of gold, cash, and personal items in ferozabad her arrest was made. Investigators say Mehreen fled Karachi after the heist, but was later detained by Ferozabad authorities on a separate theft, where she was recognized by the original complainants. Additional cases are now linked to her in Clifton and Gizri.

The police estimate the total value of stolen items at around Rs6.5 million, including cash and jewels. It is important to note that in the past Mehreen had served time for another crime in Islamabad. During that jail term, Imran khan awarded her for her sewing
Her origins were also traced back to Faisalabad by Officials they also verified she is facing multiple charges—including those registered in Lahore.
This incident hihglights the lapses in Pakistans domestic worker scrutiny and also underlines how trusting housworkers or helpers can often come at a risk.
