Govt launches free E-bikes program for top students

(Web Desk): Federal government has launched free electric bikes initiative for top-scoring students from all education boards in Pakistan, the Federal Board included.

Pakistan government has initiated this program as a part of its drive to encourage green mobility and facilitate youth.

While attending a top-level meeting to deliberate the government s electric mobility support program, PM Shehbaz underscored the economic and environmental benefits of electric vehicles (EVs). He pointed out that shifting towards EVs would break the country s dependence on imported fuel, saving billions of foreign exchange. He added that the initiative would help in preserving the environment as well as enhancing the local manufacturing sector.

The government policy includes providing electric bikes to the best-performing students across the country. PM Shehbaz Sharif clarified that all support schemes should give top priority to economically poor segments and maintain a transparent, fair distribution process.

The prime minister ordered concerned departments to make a comprehensive setup for EV manufacturing and maintenance. He also demanded third-party certification of the distribution system in order to ensure transparency and credibility. Further, he pushed for public campaigns to make people aware of the advantages and availability of the government s electric vehicle support programs.

Additionally, Premier Shehbaz Sharif has also announced that unemployed people will be given electric rickshaws and loaders across the nation to help generate jobs and ensure sustainability.
