Flight operations resume as Pakistan reopens its airspace to all flights

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) Pakistan has reopened its airspace to all sorts of flights after tensions with India eased following a ceasefire agreement.

In an announcement, the Pakistan Airport Aut­hority (PAA) confirmed that the airspace has been fully restored for all types of flights and issued a fresh notice to airmen (NOTAM).

“All airports in the country are available for normal flight operations,” PAA spokesman said.

Flight operations at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport were restored on Thursday night, according to a statement by the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) spokesperson.

Flight tracking platform FlightRadar24 showed ongoing flights at Lahore and Multan airports.

After the reopening of the airspace to all types of flights, the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) also resumed flight operations.

During the escalation with India, the authorities shifted the planes to the safe locations. After easing the tensions with India, the officials said the aircraft were being brought back to the operational area for routine operations.

The hundreds of travellers in Pakistan and abroad were stranded due to disruption of flight operations after India’s cowardly attacks.

The flight operations were suspended after India targeted PAF bases in Rawalpindi, Chakwal and Shorkot.

According to the military statement, all Air Force assets remained safe during the attack after which Pakistan launched operation in retaliation.

India on Friday had closed 32 airports across northern and western regions, including Srinagar and Amritsar, for civilian flight operations till May 15.
