Federal Minister for Privatization Abdul Aleem Khan presented the details of the privatization of government institutions in the National Assembly.

According to the details presented by Abdul Aleem Khan in the National Assembly, 10 institutions will be privatized in the first year, then 13 institutions will be privatized in the next one to three years, and the final phase will be 3 to 5 years for the privatization of one institution.

According to the response submitted to the National Assembly, the national airline, Roosevelt Hotel, and the Agricultural Development Bank will be privatized in the first phase. Three DISCOs, including IESCO, will also be privatized in the first phase.

Aleem Khan said that in the second phase, the Utility Stores Corporation and four GNCs will be privatized. Privatization of 6 DISCOs including LESCO will also take place in the second phase.

It should be noted that the federal government has been attempting to privatize PIA for some time. Various bidders have submitted proposals, but nothing has been finalized so far. The government now aims to complete PIA’s privatization by the final quarter of 2025.
