
The approval was granted during the second meeting of the Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) for the fiscal year 2025–26. In the roads and bridges sector, PDWP approved the construction of two underpasses in Rawalpindi — one at GPO Chowk and another at TM Chowk (Mall Road). Additionally, approval was given for the construction of a pedestrian underpass near the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC).

The total estimated cost of these projects is Rs. 5.552 billion.
Separately, an infrastructure project was also approved for Mandi Bahauddin, which includes widening the road along the Gujrat Branch from the District Complex to the Kakowal Bridge and the construction of a flyover. This project is estimated to cost Rs. 1.864 billion.
The meeting was chaired by Dr. Naeem Rauf, Chairman of the Planning and Development Board Punjab, and was attended by Secretary P&D Board Rafiqat Ali, Chief Economist Masood Anwar, and other senior officials.
These infrastructure projects are part of a broader development package, which includes nine major schemes across various sectors with a total investment exceeding Rs. 52.3 billion.
