LAHORE (Web Desk): The Board of Directors of the Public-Private Partnership Authority (P3A) has green lit two major motorway projects.

These two new projects will make commuting easier for citizens and increase connectivity in the region.

During its 39th meeting, led by Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal, the revised commercial structure for the Sialkot–Kharian Motorway was green lit by the board. Furthermore, under the public-private partnership model, the 69-kilometer route will be transformed into a six-lane road.

The project is in line with the recommendations of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) and is intended to boost regional connectivity and stimulate industrial expansion.

The board also green lit the 117.6-kilometer Kharian–Rawalpindi Motorway. This six-lane greenfield expressway will be constructed through the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model, with a projected cost of Rs202.61 billion, including Rs40 billion in Viability Gap Funding.

International firms will be offered the project through a competitive bidding process. These motorways are expected to reduce travel time, ease commuter movement, and promote smoother trade between northern and central Punjab once completed.
