(Web Desk): Mother of Bano, a woman recently killed in an alleged honour killing in Balochistan’s Degari area has released a shocking statement regarding her daughters killing.

The mother of Bano has released a video statement justifying her daughter’s murder and defending those involved, including tribal elder Sardar Sherbaz Satakzai.

In her statement, the grieving mother declared that her daughter was punished according to Balochi customs and traditions. “Our decision was not unjust. It was taken under the societal and tribal norms of our community,” she claimed, adding that the decision to kill her daughter was made through a traditional Balochi jirga and not solely by Sardar Sherbaz.

“My daughter Bano was the mother of five children. Her eldest son is 16 years old,” she revealed. She further alleged that the man involved with her daughter had repeatedly provoked her sons through TikTok videos, pushing them to the edge. “The boy used to post videos every day, which angered my sons. This wasn t just about one incident—it was a buildup.”

In an appeal to authorities, the mother requested the release of all those arrested in connection with the case. “Sardar Sherbaz Satakzai has no fault in this matter. The decision to punish Bano was made collectively in the jirga.”

The woman went so far as to call her daughter “guilty” and insisted that the punishment was deserved. “I stand by our tribal traditions. What happened was necessary to protect our honour.”

The incident has sparked outrage across Pakistan, with human rights activists condemning the video and the brutal killing. The Balochistan Assembly has already passed a joint resolution condemning the Degari incident and demanding strict action against all perpetrators.
