(Web Desk): Malik Riaz, chairman of Bahria Town, has declared the closure of the company's operations across Pakistan amid legal issues with the government.

Real estate tycoon made this announcement on his X account, stating that extreme actions by some state institutions had paralyzed Bahria Town s operations across the country.

"With great regret and sadness, I must inform you that in the last few months, the very stringent measures by certain government authorities — such as the arrest of dozens of our senior employees, freezing of all the company bank accounts, seizure of employees  vehicles, and other punitive measures — have brought Bahria Town s operations to a grinding halt throughout the country," Riaz stated.

He disclosed that the cash flow of the company had imploded, and it would not be possible to carry out day-to-day activities or disburse salaries to its tens of thousands of staff members.

"The crisis has worsened to the extent that we have had to suspend all Bahria Town operations in Pakistan. We don t want to take this last step, but things are going from bad to worse each day," he said.

Riaz said the crisis had also badly effected an institution comprising over 50,000 employees, along with numerous contractors. He apologized to the millions of Bahria Town residents and builders affected by the shutdown, thanking them for their patience in these difficult times.

It is worth mentioning here that Malik Riaz, who is in Dubai and under a non-bailable warrant in the UK case, has several non-bailable arrest warrants issued against him along with his son Ali Ahmed Malik and other acquaintances. NAB has already frozen his numerous bank accounts, confiscated luxury cars and shut down several properties in Karachi, Lahore and other cities.

NAB has taken this action as Riaz is involved in the £190 million UK-National Crime Agency settlement case, which is back in the limelight in Pakistan as part of the probe of Al-Qadir Trust.
