Pakistan successfully tests indigenous Fatah-4 cruise missile
Fatah-4 test highlights advanced capabilities
Pakistan conducted a successful test launch of the indigenously developed extended version of the Fatah-4 ground-launched cruise missile, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said. The test focused on the missile’s extended-range capabilities and improved technical performance.
The weapon system is equipped with advanced avionics and modern navigation aids, according to the military’s media wing. The system is designed to engage targets at extended ranges with high precision and lethality.
Test validates upgraded missile systems
The ISPR said the test also validated additional technical parameters of various subsystems. These improvements are aimed at increasing the missile’s accuracy and enhancing its survivability.
“Today's launch was witnessed by senior officers from the Pakistan Army along with scientists and engineers of the developing agency,” the ISPR added. The launch brought together military officials and technical experts involved in the missile’s development.
Top leadership praises Fatah-4 milestone
President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and services chiefs congratulated those involved in the successful test. They praised the technical expertise, dedication and commitment behind the development of the Fatah-4 extended version.
The latest test follows a successful training fire of the Fatah-4 ground-launched cruise missile in May this year. It marks another step in Pakistan’s efforts to strengthen its indigenous missile technology and related defence capabilities.
Pakistan continues missile testing programme
Earlier this year, the Army Rocket Force Command also conducted a successful training launch of the indigenously developed Fateh-II missile system. The April 28 launch was witnessed by senior officers from the Strategic Plans Division, Army Rocket Force Command and Pakistan Army, along with scientists and engineers of Strategic Organisations.
The Pakistan Navy had also carried out a successful live firing of the Taimoor air-launched cruise missile a week earlier. "The air-launched cruise missile executed its mission with exceptional precision, validating Pakistan Navy's combat capability to detect, target and decisively neutralise enemy sea-based threats at extended ranges," the ISPR had said.
The Fatah-4 test shows continued progress in Pakistan’s indigenous missile development programme. The focus on navigation, accuracy and survivability suggests an effort to improve the overall performance of the country’s missile systems.
