Pakistan has expressed serious reservations about the recent report by the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), stating that much of the information appears to rely heavily on positions presented by the Afghan Taliban authorities.
Officials in Islamabad argue that the report gives limited weight to independently verified and credible sources, raising questions about the accuracy and balance of some conclusions regarding security conditions in Afghanistan.
The criticism highlights growing tensions over terrorist safe havens in Afghanistan, which Pakistan says are being used to launch attacks against its territory.
Pakistan Warns Taliban to Choose Between Pakistan and Terror Groups
Pakistan has sent a strong diplomatic message to the Taliban government in Afghanistan, stating that Kabul must decide whether it prioritizes relations with Pakistan or continues to allow terrorist organizations to operate from Afghan soil.
According to the official statement, Pakistan believes the Taliban government maintains close links with several militant groups, which are allegedly using Afghan territory to carry out attacks inside Pakistan.
These cross-border attacks have resulted in the deaths of numerous civilians and security personnel, further escalating tensions between the two neighboring countries.
Despite multiple diplomatic initiatives and mediation efforts through friendly countries, Pakistan says no meaningful progress has been achieved in addressing the issue.
Pakistan Defends Counter-Terrorism Operations
Pakistan also emphasized that its counter-terrorism operations conducted by the armed forces are carried out with precision, professionalism, and responsibility.
Authorities said military operations are based on credible and verifiable intelligence, and extensive measures are taken to protect civilian lives during such actions.
Security officials stressed that operations are typically conducted in remote areas targeting terrorist hideouts, located far from populated zones and sensitive locations such as Kabul’s Green Zone.

Concerns Over Terrorist Safe Havens in Afghanistan
Pakistan reiterated its concerns that the Taliban government is providing sanctuary and protection to militant elements.
According to officials, these groups have established safe havens in Afghanistan, enabling them to continue activities that pose a direct threat to Pakistan’s national security and regional stability.
Security analysts warn that the persistence of such networks could undermine peace efforts in South Asia.
Miranshah Terror Attack Raises Alarm
Pakistan also drew attention to a recent devastating terrorist attack in Miranshah, which reportedly caused severe harm to innocent civilians, including children.
Islamabad expressed hope that UNAMA would report such incidents with the same level of seriousness and impartiality, ensuring that ground realities are accurately reflected in international reports.
Pakistan Reaffirms Commitment to Global Counter-Terrorism Cooperation
Despite its concerns, Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to cooperate with the United Nations and international partners in combating terrorism.
Officials said Islamabad will continue constructive engagement with global stakeholders to ensure peace, security, and stability across the region.
Experts say effective regional cooperation will be essential to eliminate terrorist networks and prevent cross-border violence in the future.
