Islamabad (Web Desk): Pakistan security forces have killed 464 Afghan Taliban combatants and destroyed 188 check posts during Operation Ghazab Lil Haq, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said.

The operation was launched late Thursday after Afghan Taliban forces fired on multiple locations along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, prompting swift retaliation. The clashes began after Afghanistan launched a border offensive in response to Pakistani air strikes in February.

Islamabad maintains that its February strikes targeted terrorists, accusing Afghanistan of sheltering groups that attack Pakistan. The Taliban government rejects these accusations. The recent border violence has affected multiple Afghan provinces and is considered the worst since the October clashes that killed over 70 people.

According to the minister, around 192 tanks, armored vehicles, and artillery guns were destroyed, and 56 Afghan locations were effectively hit by air strikes. Thirty-one additional posts were captured, and over 665 Afghan operatives were reported injured.

Separate operations in Balochistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa killed at least 67 Taliban terrorists. One soldier of the Balochistan Frontier Corps (FC) was martyred, and five others were injured during ongoing counterterrorism efforts.

Security forces successfully repelled 16 physical attacks in Balochistan districts, including Qilla Saifullah, Noshki, and Chaman. Fire raids at 25 other locations were also thwarted. In K-P, one physical attack and fire raids at 12 sites were repelled without casualties, while 40 Taliban operatives were killed overnight.

These operations are part of a broader nationwide campaign against terrorist groups targeting border districts and security forces.

Journalists in Kabul reported multiple explosions and gunfire as clashes continued, including near the Torkham border crossing, around 50 kilometres from Jalalabad. Fighting is ongoing, and tensions remain high along the border.

In simple words, Pakistan is taking strong action to secure its borders. Taliban forces have suffered heavy losses, but the fighting is not over. The situation remains tense, and further clashes are expected until the border is secured.
