Police officials said a Women Police Squad has been deployed in several busy markets of Peshawar, including Qissa Khwani Bazaar, Meena Bazaar, Saddar Bazaar, and other shopping areas where many women visit every day.
The step has been taken by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police as part of a broader plan to improve security in crowded commercial areas. Officials said the female officers will patrol the markets and provide quick help to women who face harassment or any safety issues.
To support this effort, special women help desks have also been set up at some locations. These desks allow women to easily report complaints and get assistance from trained female police officers.
Police officials said the move is especially important during busy shopping times such as Ramadan and other festive seasons, when markets become more crowded. Extra police personnel have also been deployed across the city to strengthen security.

According to officials, female officers will regularly patrol the markets, watch for suspicious activity, and assist women who may feel more comfortable sharing their concerns with female officers.
Residents have welcomed the initiative and described it as a positive step for improving safety in public places. Many women shoppers said the presence of female police officers makes them feel more secure while visiting crowded markets.

Security experts say such initiatives can help reduce harassment cases and encourage women to move freely in public spaces and take part in economic activities. Authorities also said the program could be expanded to other districts if it proves successful in Peshawar.
