Captain, soldier martyred; five terrorists killed in Peshawar gun battle

RAWALPINDI: (Suno News) During intense exchange of fire between security forces and terrorists in Hassan Khel area of Peshawar District on Sunday, Captain Hussain Jahangir and Havildar Shafiq Ullah embraced martyrdom while five terrorists were killed and three others injured, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

 “On 26 May 2024, security forces conducted an intelligence based operation in general area Hassan Khel, Peshawar District on reported presence of terrorists,” the military’s media affairs wing said in a statement. it added that  during conduct of the operation, own troops effectively engaged the terrorists' location, as result of which five terrorists were sent to hell, while three terrorists got injured.

“However”, the ISPR said, “during intense exchange of fire, leading his troops from the front, Captain Hussain Jahangir (age: 25 years, resident of Rahim Yar Khan District) along with another brave son of soil, Havildar Shafiq Ullah (age: 36 years, resident of District Karak), having fought gallantly, made the ultimate sacrifice and embraced Shahadat.”

Sanitization operation is being carried out to eliminate any terrorists found in the area, the media wing said. Security forces of Pakistan are determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve, it concluded.
