
A statement from the Pakistani prime minister s office said, "This agreement, which reflects the shared commitment of both nations to enhance their security and to achieving security and peace in the region and the world, aims to develop aspects of defense cooperation between the two countries and strengthen joint deterrence against any aggression. The agreement states that any aggression against either country shall be considered an aggression against both.”
In the historic development, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman signed the strategic mutual defense agreement.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Shehbaz Sharif visited Saudi Arabia on the official invitation of the Crown Prince. He was warmly received at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh, where high-level talks were held in the presence of both countries’ delegations.
During the meeting, the Pakistani premier conveyed his best wishes to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. Both leaders discussed historic ties, strategic partnership, and matters of mutual interest.
The agreement was signed to mark the long-standing partnership of nearly eight decades, highlighting brotherhood, Islamic solidarity, and shared strategic interests between the two nations.
