Sargodha child murder suspect Arslan killed in CCD encounter
A major development has emerged in the shocking sexual assault and murder case of young Muntaha Zahra. The main suspect, Muhammad Arslan, was killed in an encounter with the Punjab Police’s Crime Control Department (CCD) in Sargodha.
According to CCD officials, the incident occurred near Jhal Chakian Teen Pul while Arslan was being taken by investigators to recover evidence related to the case. Officials said that during the operation, Arslan’s alleged accomplices suddenly opened fire on the CCD team. Police retaliated, and during the exchange of fire, Muhammad Arslan was killed on the spot.
Following the encounter, security was heightened in the area, and additional police personnel were deployed. Special teams have also been formed to trace and arrest the suspects who allegedly managed to escape from the scene. The case had sparked widespread outrage across the country. During police interrogation, Arslan had reportedly confessed to sexually assaulting and murdering the minor girl.

Earlier, a court had handed Arslan over to the CCD on a six-day physical remand to assist investigators in collecting evidence and conducting further inquiries. The tragic case drew nationwide attention after CCTV footage showed Muntaha Zahra entering a shop shortly before she disappeared. Her body was later recovered from the third floor of the same building, shocking the entire community.
After the crime, Arslan allegedly fled the area but was later traced and arrested by police using modern investigative techniques and technology. The District Police Officer (DPO) of Sargodha had previously assured the public that everyone involved in the crime would be brought to justice and face exemplary punishment under the law.
Meanwhile, funeral prayers for Muntaha Zahra were offered amid scenes of deep grief and sorrow. A large number of citizens attended the funeral before the young girl was laid to rest at the city’s main cemetery.
