MPA Saqib Chadhar faces new trouble in Momina Iqbal harassment case
According to reports, the move has added a new layer to the ongoing dispute linked to actress Momina Iqbal’s allegations.
An application has been submitted to the Election Commission seeking information related to Punjab Assembly member Saqib Chadhar’s assets. The request was sent by Advocate Mian Asif Mahmood.
The application asks for certified copies of Saqib Chadhar’s nomination papers and asset declarations. The applicant says these documents are necessary to review the elected representative’s financial disclosures.
The petitioner stated that a disqualification request against Saqib Chadhar has already been submitted to the Speaker of the Punjab Assembly. He argued that examining the election record is important to determine whether the lawmaker’s membership remains valid.
The application further claims that allegations have been made regarding expensive vehicles, valuable gifts and property being gifted to a woman. It says reviewing the lawmaker’s financial transparency and sources of income is a matter of public interest.
The petitioner also maintained that elected representatives are legally required to disclose their assets. He stressed that complete transparency is necessary for public accountability.
